President Prabowo Subianto recently launched an initiative to establish 80,081 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in Indonesia, aimed at empowering the people’s economy. The objective is to shorten the supply chain, making essential goods more accessible to low-income communities at fair prices. These cooperatives will provide village-level infrastructure for warehouses, pharmacies, and retail outlets, enabling the direct distribution of affordable generic medicines, fertilizers, and staple foods. President Prabowo emphasized the importance of ensuring access to essential medicines at affordable prices, especially for economically vulnerable communities. He also highlighted the government’s efforts to combat fraudulent practices in staple goods distribution, leveraging artificial intelligence tools and quality control laboratories for faster detection of anomalies. Lastly, he called for national unity in the pursuit of social justice, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the nation and people’s interests above all other considerations.
