Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, has set an ambitious goal to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) to reach 82.9 million children nationwide by the end of 2025. During his speech at the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), he emphasized the importance and urgency of this initiative, citing a recent emotional encounter during a visit to Central Java where children pleaded for nutritious meals along the road.
Touched by this experience, Prabowo immediately instructed his team to speed up the implementation of the program, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August. He highlighted the significance of proper resource management and training for kitchen staff to ensure the program’s success. The President expressed his hope to reach the target of 82.9 million beneficiaries by December 2025.
Prabowo also mentioned the growing global interest in Indonesia’s efforts, with world leaders inquiring about the program and some countries expressing a desire to learn from Indonesia’s approach. While acknowledging the need for optimism to be backed by tangible results, Prabowo assured that his administration would work diligently to achieve the ambitious target.
The Free Nutritious Meal Program is part of a larger vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities, with the aim of providing every child with the necessary support to thrive and succeed irrespective of their background. Prabowo’s commitment to this cause has garnered attention both domestically and internationally, positioning Indonesia as a leader in efforts to combat child hunger and improve the well-being of millions of children.
Hence, Prabowo’s determination to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program underscores his commitment to improving the lives of Indonesian children and ensuring their access to essential nutrition for a brighter future.
