Indonesia Sends Aid to Gaza on 80th Independence Day

The Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force successfully conducted a humanitarian aid mission to the Gaza Strip, Palestine, on August 17, 2025, coinciding with Indonesia’s 80th independence anniversary. This mission was a collaborative effort among the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Alms Agency (Baznas). Two Indonesian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft took off from King Abdullah II Air Base in Amman, Jordan, at 10:37 a.m. local time (2:37 p.m. Jakarta time) to drop aid supplies over Gaza before returning safely to the forward operating base at 12:25 p.m. local time (4:25 p.m. Jakarta time).

Speaking on the mission’s success, Colonel Pilot Puguh Yulianto, Commander of the Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force, mentioned that the operation proceeded smoothly without major obstacles. The aid packages distributed included essential supplies for Gaza residents, such as staple foods, ready-to-eat meals, medical equipment, blankets, and items for children. This mission was carried out under President Prabowo Subianto’s direct orders, highlighting Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to international humanitarian solidarity.

The successful completion of this mission on Indonesia’s independence anniversary was celebrated as a moment of national pride, showcasing Indonesia’s active participation on the global stage and its dedication to promoting global peace. Yulianto expressed that this achievement was a historic milestone and a special gift for Indonesia on its Independence Day.
